These images came with the email from my aunt Today.
i left her home in a hurry. Shedding the extra weigh i no longer wanted to carry into the new world. i left behind a closet full of old clothes, a bookcase full of hand me down design books, a prohibited ashtray full of buds hiddin’ in plain sight, dry up tubes of watercolor and markers, paint brushes all bend out all of of shape, and piles of abandon ideas crudely drawn on xerox paper.
The family, who once generously took me in, was forced to take care of the mess i irresponsibly left behind. All of my junk, i assume they have gotten rid off. But my drawing they must have saved.
No one would have noticed that these drawing were inspired by Totoro and Of Mice And Men. The story would have mimicked the Steinbeck’s ending, and scavenged the bread crumbs of Miyasaki’s charms. It was so far away from completion, and now so far away from me.
Oh, how i still draw the same silly hands and feet. How i still dress my characters in dresses like the one i drew ten years ago. How i am still pretty much fond of putting a pair of mary jane of girls. Or how i take the shoes away to make them unique or vulnerable.
it’s been ten years, will i ever change?
thanks my aunt and her family. thanks for bring these back to me
